I so enjoyed reading this. Happy birthday, Hanne. This world is better because you are in it. I’m grateful that your mother gave the world the gift of you, even if it seems like the rest of the parenting process was…lacking, to say the least. Your sparkly unicorn party 🦄 sounds fucking perfect. Thank you for sharing it with us and giving us the chance to celebrate with you. 🎉 🎂 🍰 🧁 🎈💗💥☀️
Thank you, Amanda! The sparkly unicorn party was truly amazing. This year, my household hid birthday cards in all kinds of places -- the cats left me one in the cat food bin!
Some people shouldn't raise goldfish, let alone children. I'm sorry you had one of those as your mother.
I hope this and all future birthdays are filled with all the joy and deliciousness that were denied you as a child because your mother was such a piece of work.
I LOVE celebrating other people’s birthdays, as well as my own. Mine was on Saturday, and I actually ended up canceling my lemon cake with lemon buttercream and raspberry filling (yum!) for THE BEST charcuterie board I have ever had in my bc WHOLE LIFE.
And since my family of origin were total fancy-cheese hounds, my review means something. Casey’s Diem is the name of the shop.
Oh. it was so good, so very perfect. And it went so well with friends’ hospitality and my silver-and-blue tiara. (I wear them sometimes Just because, but for my birthday, you betcha britches I do.)
All this to say, my dear, that I’m so grateful for Mr. B and his rescuing your birthday. And thank you so much for letting us celebrating you. It is pure delight to have you in my life. I’m so grateful you’re here. Thanks for not quitting.
Happy birthday, almost-birthday-sibling! That charcuterie situation sounds *amazing*. I'm so on board with that as a birthday feast idea and it does go perfectly with a tiara.
Many happy returns of the day! I dove into this post with utter bafflement, wondering how on earth you knew it was MY birthday. What an unexpected delight to read of your reclamation of birthday joy. So, birthday sibling, I'm opening up my lunchbox and offering you half of my own big ol' slice of cake. It's a cream roll, home-made, and drizzled with passionfruit syrup, because we are SO worth it.
Happy Birthday!!!!! When I looked at the picture of you typing, I saw a girl who was the perfect size and shape. I also was considered “fat” by my father. I wasn’t. I do have a few extra pounds on me now and yes I am losing weight as a way to cure diabetes type 2. I am happy that you can now enjoy your birthday!!!! I am very grateful that you are here and willing to share your amazing talents. I now have “beds” for items that I never had “beds” for and am amazed at the amount of stress I have released. Thank you so much!!!!!!
Thank you for the kind words and thoughts, Christine. I was a fat kid and that's ok, the part that's not ok is when kids are treated badly because of the prejudices people have about bodies.
I hope that you are able to control your diabetes easily and well with whatever method(s) work best for you. Bodies are all very different and diabetes is notoriously complicated too, and my wish is simply that people be able to have the best state of health they can with as little pain-in-the-assness as possible.
Happy birthday, Hanne! What a delight to read about Mr. B's unicorn birthday surprise! I hope today had some of that same joy as well in celebrating still being here.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!!!!
🎉🎂😁❤️💕
May you all the cake and sparkly joy in the world, because you deserve it.
Thank you, Sandra!

Thank you, Zonuts. You made me laugh with the goldfish line -- it's so true.

Happy birthday, birthday sibling! Holly, that cake sounds *fabulous*. Passionfruit syrup! I'm plotzing!
(Yes, I'm late.)
It sounds like the time I made my gothy girlfriend the cake and got the black crepe paper and the paper dinosaur hats for her birthday. (Rough times.)
Happy birthday, Tante!

only send me stickers if you want a belated birthday card
Dinosaur hats! I knew I liked you.

Yay for things having beds!
Happy late birthday! In unknowing celebration, I took the big dog for two walks yesterday. She also says many happy returns!
We are all so glad you were born ♡
Oh happy happy dog! What a lovely way to have my birthday be celebrated.
Love this post. So incredibly relatable for me. WHEN is your birthday? I'm March 8. Seems we are connected! xo
Mine was yesterday! Happy almost-your-birthday, fellow Pisces.
Happy Birthday, Hanne! Fish people are the best people! xo
happy birthday!!!
Thank you, Elise!

Thank you, Trina. I had a great birthday yesterday -- again! -- thanks in no small part to Mister B.
Happy Birthday Miss Hanne! In your honor I am gonna have cake today.
Thank you! What kind of cake did you have?
Happy birthday! You can have all of my cake—I’ll take the pie (fruit, not cream).
I love a birthday pie too. Or an anytime pie, to be honest. And I'm with you on the fruit rather than cream.
Happy almost your Birthday!
Thank you! (It was actually my birthday yesterday -- I just wrote the post earlier, but posted it on the day itself.)
Happy Birthday to you! I'd happily bake you the cake of your choice.
Thank you, Sandra! I bet you make a really good cake, too.
Happy Birthday, Hanne!
Thank you so much!
